Betty Lorraine Hughes Smith “Graduated to Glory” on July 26, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in San Francisco on May 26, 1924.

Betty spent some of her proudest days as the youngest woman to run San Francisco Juvenile Hall from 1946 – 1948. She went on to become Program Director at San Francisco Recreation Center for the Handicapped. She also served on various Boards of Directors in Visitacion Valley, San Francisco, Lake County and Sonoma County Peer Counselor.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jenniffer and Ivan Sotomayor. She was a loving grandmother to Nicole and Scott Sotomayor, and cherished aunt to Cathy Blumeno and Barbara Johnson.

Family and Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Avenue, Santa Rosa. Private internment.
