On July 27, 2007, George Frank Luning, beloved Daddy, Grand Daddy and Grandpa GG is now taking a well deserved, unending and ever joyful trip with his wife of 62 years, Glenairle Patricia Ryan Luning, who went before him to make things ready on Nov. 11, 2006. George was born in Pennsylvania, to Elmer and Marie Seigel Luning on Jan. 24, 1918. He was the first born of seven children and the last to say goodbye, I love you, and join his family on a new journey.
He fell in love with Glenairle just before being deployed in World War II. It was that love, and a toothbrush, that sustained him in Africa and Italy. His love was unconditional and for always. He was a man of knowledge and accomplishments, but never pretentious and ever humble, who gave his love and belief to God, his wife, church, country, his children, Patricia Glenairle Luning Dumas, Gregory Phillip Luning, deceased, and Terese Ann Luning Crouse; his five grandchildren, Robert Allen Rhodes, Daniel Bran Town, Elizabeth Marie Town, William Leo Town and Jeremiah Joseph Town; his ten great-grandchildren, Nneka Michelle Bonney, Bradley Gregory Town, Rayeann Marie Hatfield, Angelica Louise Town, Kayla Nicole Hatfield, Rhianna Jeanette Rhodes, Briana Nicole Town, Symphony Alya Town, Emery Zelma Town and Ian Patrick Town.
As the child who stretches their arms with joy to show how much love is given, your arms were always unwavering and a quiet strength of unconditional love.
You will always be loved and remembered as Daddy.
A rosary will be held for George at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 14405 Uhl Ave, Clearlake. On Sunday, Aug. 5, a funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. at Queen of Peace. Inurnment services at the cemetery will be private.
