The mess our country is in can be traced directly back to a dysfunctional election system, yet the only reforms to it so far were designed to make it easier to rig them. I find it very telling that nobody in Washington has taken any steps to correct the problem.
Would it not benefit the citizens to have an election system where the voters could pick the candidates and also verify who really got the most votes? After all the documented fraud of the 2000 and 2004 elections, I have severe doubts that there has ever been an honest election in my lifetime.
Any politician who doesn”t work to establish a government funded truly verifiable election system should be removed from office. The current system insures that money can buy government policy, and this is why we are stuck in Iraq and going broke while the infrastructure that allows our country to prosper is crumbling from neglect.
