Jan 3, 1949 to July 31, 2007
Bruce Murphy Roberts died July 31, 2007, in his home in Kelseyville at the age of 58. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Andrew Lemen of Oakland; his parents, Carlton and Marie Roberts of Healdsburg; his brother and sister-in-law, Carlton Roberts and Diane Schenker of Anchorage, Alaska; his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Steve Current of Novato; many nieces and nephews, and a beloved grandson, Grant.
Born in 1949 in San Diego to a military family, he lived in many places throughout his childhood before graduating from Ukiah High School in 1967. A favorite memory of his was the summer he spent at sixteen, sailing on the Christian Radich, a Norwegian Navy Tall Ship. Bruce furthered his education at Santa Rosa Junior College and received a degree in Philosophy from Fresno State University. He served two years in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
For the past thirty years, Bruce worked in real estate development in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake Counties. To family and friends, he will be remembered as a dreamer, a visionary, a builder, and a planner, always with a new project on the horizon. He made friends easily wherever he went. He will be missed by the many people who loved him, especially for his genial nature, sense of humor, and ability to engage others in philosophical debates without being disagreeable.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Jones Mortuary, 115 South Main Street, Lakeport, CA 95453.
