Gerry, age 72, born Aug. 18, 1934, passed away at home with loved ones at his side July 31, 2007. Born and raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota, he entered the U.S. Navy in October, 1952 and was stationed in Pensacola, Florida, where he met his wife of 48 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Colestock, and mother, Belva Colestock-West.
Known as Gerry and deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son-in-law, friend, he is survived by his wife, Carol Colestock; four children: Dennis of Spokane, WA; David of Havasu City, AZ; Laurie of Lakeport, CA; and Jay of Locust Grove, OK; four grandchildren: Kimberly, Connor, Gabrielle, and Abigail; and an extended family that included a mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Trained as a land surveyor, Gerry worked for years for local engineering firms. Eventually, he became Construction Supervisor for some Lake and Sonoma County geothermal field operations. Other passions he explored included working with the Taylor Observatory and Lake County Red Cross. He received training as an EMT and subsequently taught CPR for the Red Cross and was an EMT instructor. Following retirement, he became an accomplished home chef, which positioned him well to enjoy other hobbies such as proof-reading books at Safeway and the cashiers in line.
