UPDATED:

Vivian Hystad passed away July 30, 2007. She was a native of Scotts Valley, Lake County. Her parents were natives of Lake County as well. She had no children and lost her husband, who came back from World War II only to drown in a fishing accident. Vivian worked 40 years as a bookkeeper at an auto parts store in Lakeport. She was known for her great memory. She always sent thoughtful cards to relatives for birthdays and anniversaries before she lost her sight. Vivian is survived by her sister-in-0law, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. She was blind for over 10 years but was amazingly well informed and alert. She was an avid Oakland A”s fan; she listened to the games on her radio. She called the Lakeport Skilled Nursing Facility her home for almost 14 years. Vivian very rarely complained about her situation and bravely fought her best to stay independent as long as she physically could. Burial is private per her wishes.
