UKIAH — Lakeport drivers Jeremy Hopkins and Terry McIntire visited the winner”s circle Saturday night during King of the Hill Challenge Series racing action at the Ukiah Speedway.

Hopkins just missed a clean sweep in the Late Models division, setting the fast time (13.027 seconds), winning the only heat race and then powering his way to victory in the main event. He also finished third in the trophy dash.

McIntire, the modified points leader, added to his total by winning the feature race. Other feature winners were George Mavrakis in the bonus bomber division, points leader Ron Duke Jr. in the bomber class, and Drew Smith in the bandoleros division.

Late Models

Hopkins took the checkered flag in the main event in front of divisional points leader Forrest Kuecker, Jeremy Donahoo, David Furia and John Dalerio, who broke up Hopkins” bid for a clean sweep by winning the trophy dash.

Kuecker leads Dalerio by 41 points in the standings.

Modifieds

In the modified feature, McIntire beat Noel McCormack Jr., Jeremy Nowlin, Scott Feil and Clay Caturegli to the finish line. McIntire”s win pushed his points lead to 91 points over Derrick Crayford in the standings.

McCormack Jr. set the fast time (13.429), Ron Connor won the trophy dash, and heat victories went to Codi Barba and Rick Rose.

Bonus bombers

In the bonus bomber feature, Mavrakis took the checkered flag in front of Keith Nelson, points leader Andy Vanderveer, Brandon Szymczak, Eric Johnson and Jerry Crapo.

Mavrakis” big night also included the fast time (14.917) and a win in the second heat race. Manuel Antonio won the first heat and Nelson captured the trophy dash.

Bombers

Duke Jr.”s win in the bomber A-main event came in front of Scott Sabol, Randy Portlock, Cory Mainini and Jimmy Sorrels.

Shelby Helm, currently second in the point standings, won one of the three heat races and Mike Bray and Rick Tommila won the others. Sabol was first in the trophy dash and Manya Tenney, third in the point standings, set the fast time of 15.865.

Bandoleros

Smith closed to within 10 points of divisional leader Kyle Tellstrom by winning the bandoleros main event. Tellstrom came in second, Jay Cee McLean was third, Brenton Smith took fourth and Darrin Silva was fifth.

Smith capped a perfect night by winning the trophy heat and setting the fast time (15.672).

The King of the Hill Challenge Series resumes this Saturday at the Lakeport Speedway and features the North State Challenge Series Late Models, the Legends Cars of the Pacific, and the Pro-4 modifieds.
