The Lake County Democratic Central Committee adopted a resolution at the August 3 meeting, suggested by Lucerne”s water groups, in support of not-for-profit water supplies.
We urge the county Board of Supervisors to consider doing the same. As you know, water has been called “blue gold” and “the oil of the 21st century.” There is much history of violence centered on control of water in this country, and we are seeing hostilities break out over water now in other nations.
It is too vital and precious a resource to risk having it controlled by organizations whose primary goal is profit. Please take the enlightened lead in ensuring that our water is managed for the good of the people of Lake County, and not for profit.
