KELSEYVILLE — Lake County Republican Party hosts its fourth annual Pachyderm Hoedown on Friday, Aug. 17, at the Van Eck Ranch in Kelseyville. The event, which starts at 5 p.m., is called “Supporting the 2nd Amendment” and features guest speaker Dr. Hugh Cort, a 2008 presidential candidate.

This will be the first time a Republican presidential candidate has appeared in Lake County. Dr. Cort is an Internationally renowned expert on counter-terrorism and author of “Saddam”s Attacks on America.”

All income generated from the sale of goods may be kept by the seller but most participants donate their leftover items to Fire Sirens for its next rummage sale. Nonprofits welcome.

Bring binoculars and good walking shoes to enjoy a moderate one to two hour walk on this beautiful property managed by the Lake County Land Trust. MIDDLETOWN — An employee from Westamerica Bank will present “Senior Guard,” a financial protection seminar, 12:30 p.m. Aug. 22, at the Middletown Senior Center.

There will be no charge for the class. Using real-life examples, the class will teach seniors how to recognize financial abuse and how they can protect themselves
