LAKEPORT — Late Models driver Mike Doss of Nice won the North State Challenge Series main event and the $2,000 first-place prize on Saturday night as the King of the Hill Challenge Series continued at the Lakeport Speedway.

Joining Doss in the winner”s circle on Saturday were Steven Cantrell, who won the Legends Cars of the Pacific main event; Codi Barba, who won the Pro-4 modifieds feature race; Gary Collins, who won the Guy Strohmeier Auto Center bonus bomber main event; and Roman Rose, who took the checkered flag in the Guy Strohmeier Auto Center bomber feature.

Late Models

Doss won the 75-lap main event in front of Jeremy Hopkins, Howard Ford, trophy dash winner Randy Houston and Kyle Pope. Doss also set the fast time (12.262 seconds).

Legends Cars

Cantrell”s victory in the Legends Cars feature came in front of runner-up Matt Scott, third-place finisher and trophy dash winner Zachery Kavert, Randy Fellman and Chad Foster.

Heat winners were Joel Courage and Kelly Martin. Kavert also had the fast time (12.949).

Pro-4 modifieds

On a night when Andy Leuzinger set a new track record during qualifying (12.973), Barba topped the field in the main event, taking the checkered flag in front of Joe Sloan, Jonathon Reynolds, Devin La Horgue and Scott DeLeon.

Sloan won the only heat race and La Horgue won the trophy dash.

Bonus bombers

Collins beat George Mavrakis to the finish line in the bonus bomber main event. Points leader and fast qualifier Andy Vander Veer (14.046) came in third, Eric Johnson was fourth and Manuel Antonio took fifth.

Antonio and Mavrakis won the heat races and Collins captured the trophy dash.

Bombers

Rose”s victory in the bomber main event came in front of Anthony McCoy, Ron Duke Sr, Mike Bray and Tony Ramazzotti. Andy Norton won the B-main event in front of Tim Buzzard and Tommy Nugent.

Heat winners were McCoy, Ronald Portlock and Robert Byers. Manya Tenney won the trophy dash.

Rose has the fast time (14.915).

The King of the Hill Challenge Series continues this Saturday at the Ukiah Speedway.
