Robert (Bob) W. Attebery

Bob”s life ended peacefully on Aug. 11, 2007 at the Cloverdale Healthcare Center after a long illness and a battle with Alzheimer”s disease.
Bob was preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Pauline; brother, Walter; son, Mitchell (Mitch); granddaughter, Tina Lynn and great-grandson, Cody Templeman.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elsie; daughters, Jeanine Lynn of Milwawkie, Ore.; Barbara Jo, “BJ” (John) Woods of Lakeport and Gerrie “Seryna” Templeman of Cobb. Bob also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, along with a host of friends and neighbors.
Bob was born and raised in Berkley. After high school he joined the Naval Reserve and went to work as a mechanic for Pan American Airlines. During training for Pan-Am in Sacramento, he met the love of his life Elsie and after a whirlwind courtship they were married on Jan. 3, 1943. Bob and Elsie settled in Hayward, where they lived for over 60 years.
After working for Pan-Am at Moffet Field and Treasure Island, Bob left and worked various jobs as a journey carpenter, one being the Oakland Zoo which he thoroughly enjoyed.
For the last 25 years before retiring he was a maintenance supervisor for the Hayward Unified School District.
Bob and family enjoyed countless years in Lake County during summer vacations and visiting relatives and friends around the lake.
A private memorial will be held and interment will be at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward.
