FORT BRAGG — One win, one loss, one tie. That”s how the Clear Lake High School junior varsity girls” soccer team opened its season on Friday and Saturday at the Fort Bragg Tournament.

Clear Lake opened play Friday with a 1-1 tie against El Molino. Elena Tipton scored the Cardinals” goal with an assist from Briana Martinez.

One of the stars of the game for the Cardinals was keeper Mori Jordan, according to coach Alice Holmes.

“She played a great game,” Holmes said. “She saved it.”

Clear Lake came back with a 2-0 win over Lower Lake on Saturday morning, getting goals from Jordan and Briana Dutcher. Martinez had an assist. In a late game Saturday, Clear Lake fell 2-0 to Fort Bragg.

The Clear Lake JVs open a two-day, two-game road swing Friday at McKinleyville. They travel to Fortuna on Saturday.
