For many in the “world of the arts” there is an understanding and appreciation for the age old question, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” The answer is well known to all who pursue an artistic discipline “practice-practice-practice.”
Joan Facca, one of Lake County”s talented oil painters and pastel artists will attest to this and the proof of it is the fact that some of Facca”s work has been juried into the prestigious Art “Showcase #4” presented by the Plaza Arts Center, in Healdsburg, which began Thursday, Aug. 23.
If you ask Facca the secret for her success, she will tell you that it”s “practice-practice-practice” of the principles that she has learned over the years in her self taught studies and the tutelage that she has received in art workshops from internationally celebrated artist Judy Magoon, a local premier pastel artist, who opened up the wonderful world of pastel painting for her and the talented Sonoma artist Armand Cabrera who has helped Joan establish a sound basic platform for her work.
She will also tell you that it is her association and ongoing work with fellow artists of Konocti “plein air” painters that sustains her many hours of painting -painting -painting, especially those ongoing outdoor sessions followed by friendly but objective critiques.
Facca is a founding member of the well known painting group Konocti “plein air” Painters. She serves as their treasurer, activities coordinator and in general keeps the group organized and active.
Facca has been the recipient of numerous awards and periodically exhibits her work, which depicts our beautiful Clear Lake area at the well known Lake County Arts Council, Main Street Gallery and other shows and festivals around our tri-county area.
Facca gives back to the local and national art community by supporting and participating in art organizations such as the Lake County Arts Council; the Calistoga Art Guild; the Plaza Art Center; and the Pastel Society of the West Coast. Many local community service organizations have received donations of Facca”s work for their fund raising activities.
You are invited to support Facca at “Showcase #4” at the Plaza Arts Center, 130 Plaza Street, Healdsburg. The show runs through Monday, Sept. 17. Call Facca at 279-2360 for more information.
