This is in response to the article on Aug. 25, 2007 Record Bee regarding the Blue Heron Motorcycle Rally.
While visiting my son in San Diego County in June, members of my family participated in an annual rally to raise money for abused children. Some 300 riders gathered and were given a tremendous send off by the local media and T.V stations. The event appeared on the evening news. It was a beautiful ride through the back country and the only law enforcement present were at intersections to stop all traffic to enable the riders to pass safely. The day ended with a great BBQ and thanks to all who attended.
The people who give their time and money to make these events a success deserve our respect and protection. They do not deserve to be harassed and put into danger. I think that law enforcement dodged a bullet this time. Hopefully something positive can come of this and next years rally can be a huge success.
