KELSEYVILLE — A weekend crash took the life of a 48-year-old Kelseyville man despite his attempt to avoid an oncoming car that crossed the double yellow lines, according to a California Highway Patrol collision report.

He was driving a 1986 Toyota west on Point Lakeview Road near Highway 29 when an eastbound driver in a 1991 Jeep crossed over the center lines for unknown reasons. The Toyota driver reportedly swerved to the right to avoid a collision, but Jeep hit it head-on.

The CHP report says the Toyota driver died of his injuries from the crash.

The driver of the Jeep, also a Kelseyville resident, suffered injuries and was flown by REACH to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He was found not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the report.

Neither driver”s name was released as the Record-Bee was going to press time Monday night.
