UPDATED:

I too came upon the single vehicle crash Wednesday on Hwy 20. I was driving to work after my doctors appointment. As usual I was in a hurry as I had already missed almost a half a day of work waiting in the doctors office. I, of course, got stuck behind a big rig hauling lumber and could not wait to get to the passing lane and be on my way. The truck in front of me started to slow down and then came to a complete stop.

I could not see around it and I was becoming more impatient. The truck entered into the on-coming traffic lane and I then realized why he had done so, the accident. I pulled over to the side of the road to see if I could help. I stayed until medical aid arrived. As I continued my drive to work with the horrible picture of the injured driver in my mind I realized driving a “little” over the speed limit and passing “slow” trucks to get to work maybe five minutes sooner was not worth it.

There have been far too many critical and fatal accidents in Lake County recently. I think we all need to realize that where we are going can not possibly be more important than our safety and that of our fellow drivers.
