CLEARLAKE — The City of Clearlake extended its appreciation to Irwin Kaplan, interim community development director, and wished him well in his departure from the city. A proclamation was read on Wednesday, Aug. 29, commending Kaplan for his service to the community.

Mayor Judy Thein conveyed the city”s lasting gratitude for Kaplan”s direction and leadership in guiding the city at the helm of its Vision Task Force.

“It”s easy to catch ?Irwin Fever” as the charisma you created is unlike anything else our city has ever realized,” Thein said. “You quickly became the pied-piper of our city as you knew how to lead us in a direction that we have never been before. Your gentle sensitivity, enthusiastic energy and valuable wisdom easily encouraged each of us to step aboard the flight that would lead into our future.” The proclamation commending Kaplan in appreciation and gratitude from the Clearlake City Council on behalf of the citizens of Clearlake reads as follows:

“WHEREAS, Irwin Kaplan was appointed the Interim Community Development Director of the City of Clearlake in January 2007; and

“WHEREAS, Irwin has, in eight months” time, formed the Clearlake Vision Task Force, and organized a final report which will be a key element in determining the direction of the City”s future; and

“WHEREAS, Irwin”s expertise, professional knowledge, and incredible dedication to the finished product was instrumental in the Task Force process; and

“WHEREAS, Irwin Kaplan has been an invaluable and tireless asset to the City of Clearlake.

“LET IT BE PROCLAIMED that Irwin Kaplan is to be commended for his commitment to serving the citizens of the City of Clearlake and is congratulated on his help to the City, and extended warmest wishes for the future.

“Dated this 29th day of August, 2007 “Judith K. Thein, Mayor.”
