LAKEPORT — Two games against Clear Lake, two wins for Kelseyville High School varsity boys” soccer coach Eduardo Ledesma.

“I like that,” Ledesma said of the Knights” most recent victory over the Cardinals, a 4-0 North Central League I interlock decision Tuesday night under the lights at Clear Lake High School.

Kelseyville (2-0) has played only two games so far this season, both against the Cardinals, who are off to a dismal 0-4 start.

“They played really hard,” Ledesma said of the Clear Lake players. “It was a nice game ? both teams went all out.”

Kelseyville keeper John Kincannon registered a number of hard saves to keep the shutout intact. He also received help from his defense, including Leonardo Martinez, who made what Ledesma called a “great save” in the second half to smother a shot that Kincannon probably wouldn”t have been able to stop.

“My defense played great,” Ledesma said.

It also helps to have a foreign exchange student like David Koeppel on your team, according to Ledesma. A native of Switzerland, Koeppel scored a goal in each half for the Knights. Andres Macias and Antonio Castellanos had the other Kelseyville goals and Macias also had an assist.

Kelseyville led 3-0 after one half.

The Knights return to action Thursday in St. Helena at 4:30 p.m. Clear Lake travels to Willits on Thursday for a 6 p.m. game.

Editor”s note: Results of Tuesday night”s game were reported to the Record-Bee sports desk too late to make it into the paper”s print edition.
