LAKEPORT Kevin Burt rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as the Clear Lake Cardinals overpowered the Pierce Bears 30-12 in a non-league junior varsity football game at Lakeport.
It was the season opener for the Cardinals (1-0).
While Clear Lake”s offense did its part, outgaining Pierce 285-190, Clear Lake”s defense also figured prominently in the victory as Aaron Adams recovered a fumble and returned it 81 yards for a touchdown.
Adams, Ryan Lunas and Lance McCloud were Clear Lake”s leading tacklers.
Clear Lake hits the road Friday to play Kelseyville (0-1).
