LOWER LAKE — The Kelseyville Chiefs tied Lower Lake 27-27 in a varsity Pop Warner football game on Saturday at Lower Lake High School.
It was the season opener for both teams.
Quarterback Steven Edwards had 10 carries for 160 yards and running back Jeremy Steele rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns to spearhead Kelseyville”s ground attack. Geno Poloni also had a touchdown run.
In the air, Edwards completed 5 of 11 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. Dasan Vazquez caught five passes for 100 yards and a TD.
Steele added a pair of conversion runs and Edwards had one.
On defense, Steele led the way with seven tackles, including a sack, Edwards had five tackles, and Poloni and Lane Bloom each had three tackles. Bloom also intercepted a pass.
Lower Lake scoring and statistics were not reported.
