COLUSA — Deanna Goff notched her first win as Kelseyville High School”s new varsity volleyball coach on Thursday night as the Knights beat the Colusa Redskins 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 at Colusa.

“They were actually talking, moving and having fun, not getting down on each other after a mistake,” Goff said. “It was nice to see.”

Kaitlyn Goff”s seven kills, six digs and three blocks led the Knights. Skyler Olsen added three kills and Jodi Snider had seven service points, including two aces, and two kills.

St. Helena 3, K”ville 1

At St. Helena, the Saints scored three first-half goals, two on penalty kicks, to beat the Kelseyville Knights in North Central League I interlock action. Kelseyville had two goals wiped out by fouls.

St. Helena had a 3-0 lead before Andres Macias scored Kelseyville”s lone goal, that coming late in the first half.

Lower Lake 2, Upper Lake 1

At Lower Lake, Chuy Fonseca and Rodrigo Zuniga scored second-half goals to rally the Lower Lake Trojans past the Upper Lake Cougars, who took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a Quinn Womachka goal.

Zuniga and Rathid Aliji had assists for the Trojans, who improved to 3-1-1.

Willits 3, Clear Lake 0

At Willits, the host Wolverines shut out the Clear Lake Cardinals in NCL I interlock action.

Willits led 1-0 after the first half.

“We keep getting better each game and we”re just trying to figure things out,” Clear Lake coach Brian Figg said.

Clear Lake is 0-5.

Clear Lake 2, Willits 0

At Lakeport, Willits packed in its defense but couldn”t stop Clear Lake, a 2-0 winner over the Wolverines.

Both of Clear Lake”s goals came in the second half on shots by Julie Jackson and Samantha Espinoza.

“They had as many as eight players back,” Clear Lake co-coach Paul Larrea said of the Wolverines. “They really packed it in.”

Clear Lake (3-1-1) spent nearly the entire game on offense and had 22 shots on goal.

Standouts for the Card-inals were sweeper Tasha Herrera and marking backs Ashley Perry and Logan Brodnansky.

M”town 1, Cloverdale 1 (tie)

At Middletown, minus three starters because of injury and illness, the struggling Middletown Mustangs pulled their keeper out of the net in an attempt to generate some offense but could only tie Cloverdale.

Kelsey Welton, Middle-town”s starting keeper in each of the team”s first four games this season, started on offense and scored the Mustangs” only goal in the 49th minute.

Cloverdale scored in the first half to take a 1-0 lead and Welton”s goal early in the second half tied it.

Middletown is 2-1-2.

Upper Lake 7, Lower Lake 0

At Lower Lake, Daniella Santana scored two goals and had two assists to lead Upper Lake to a shutout win over Lower Lake.

Yessica Ayala added two goals and an assist and Becca Breton had one goal and one assist as Upper Lake improved to 2-1-1.

It was the first shutout for keeper Maria Mendoza.

St. Helena 6, Kelseyville 1

At Kelseyville, Monique Santana scored a goal in the first half as the Kelseyville Chiefs fell to St. Helena in NCL I interlock action.

Jen Asbury had an assist for Kelseyville, which trailed 3-1 after the first half.

“We played hard, but not good enough to beat them,” Kelseyville coach Mark Andre said.
