In reference to the recent letters in the Record-Bee by John Ornellas and Chuck Michglicei, I have this response. Mr. Ornellas is mistaken as America is not supposed to be a “Democracy,” but it is a “Republic.” According to Random House Dictionary, a “Republic” is governed by citizen-elected representatives.
We hold elections, and our elected representatives are so beholden to big monty, big business, and special interest groups (of which many of us belong) for campaign funding that these groups really run the government. They ? of which we may be included ? are the democracy.
To Mr. Michglicei, beware; for one sleeper terrorist cell actions may lead NSPD-51 to be activated. Vigilance, and perhaps prayer, may stay the hands of terrorist cells.
