The minute I saw the picture of Principal Tom Hoskins on the front of the Record Bee (Sept. 19) I thought, “Thank God, they are finally printing something positive on the front page.”

Then, Friday, I read the ridiculous letters from Lenny Matthews and Harold Riley. Kids are kids and they take things for what they are worth. I wasn”t at the assembly, but I imagine that the students all got a kick out of what their principal did, and they felt they had a hand in making it happen by being successful on their state tests. End of story

Don”t complicate it with all your hang ups. It was a funny, silly thing to do. That”s what my son said, and he”s a kid and they”re the best judge of what is fun. Adults, like Matthews and Riley, just ruin it for the rest of us. It takes a lot to motivate today”s children, so kudos to all those educators brave enough to think outside the box.

And, Record Bee, please give us more positive stories on the front page. It will do us all a world of good.
