COW MOUNTAIN ?County supervisor Anthony Farrington is bed-ridden after a head-on collision. A weekend dirt biking trip left him with a fractured dislocated shoulder and trauma to his hips and pelvis.
Farrington was dirt biking with his uncle Andy Scully. He was headed down a dirt road in the Cow Mountain off-highway recreation area at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday. He was negotiating a blind curve as he headed downhill on a dirt road on his Yamaha YZ450 motorcycle. according to a California Highway Patrol report, when he saw a Ford F150 4×4 truck coming around the curve in the opposite direction. Farrington took evasive action, the report says, but slid into the left front of the truck.
Farrington said that he went up over the truck”s hood and landed on the other side. The unidentified truck driver took him down the mountain, where his uncle was waiting to take him to Sutter Lakeside Hospital. CHP took his statement there.
Farrington said he and the other driver tried to hug their respective sides of the road, and that it appeared that no one was at fault. With his shoulder in a sling and “barely able to walk” on a his left hip, Farrington said he is “taking it easy,” staying in bed, and may be able to take medical leave from his law studies while he recovers. CHP officer Dallas Richey is leading an ongoing investigation into the incident.
