Lower Lake Youth Football has been taking its game on the road. Teams traveled to Middletown and Fort Bragg, respectively, in the past two weeks. Pee Wee division results were reported to the Clear Lake Observer*American newsroom as follows:
The little Trojans fell to Middletown, 12-6 in the Sept. 15 bout. Scoring on a 10-yard pass from Dylan Sanders was Ricky Morris. Morris ran the ball for 15 yards for the touchdown. Marlon Jones ran the ball for 24 on nine carries. Defense was led by Jesse Moon and Jarrod Alexander who each had four tackles apiece; William Iverson and Emick Brown had three. Ethan Watson had two tackles; David Wright and Sanders each had two tackles and an assist. Hokalani Wickard had a tackle and a fumble recovery. Nick Begins, Jones and Morris each had a tackle apiece.
A cold, wet game was played in Fort Bragg on Sept. 22. The final score was 6-2 in Fort Bragg”s favor. The game was called four minutes shy of the final buzzer in order to start the junior varsity and varsity games on time. “The Trojans had the ball and were moving it forward as the game was called,” reported statistician Marie Moon.
On the offense, it was Brown for 8 yards on four carries. Jesse Moon gained 6 yards on two carries. Kono Geary, with a quarterback keeper had two attempts for 5 yards. Jones carried seven times for 5 yards and Morris carried once for 5 yards.
“The passing game was stopped,” reported Moon. “Kono Geary attempted four times and all were incomplete and Dylan Sanders tried five times, two were incomplete and three times he was sacked. The intended receivers were Ricky Morris and Emick Brown.”
On the defense, Geary had a tackle and an assist; Watson, one assist; Brown, two assists, two tackles; Moon, two assists; Wickard, one assist, one fumble caused and one fumble caused and recovered; Jones, one tackle, one fumble recovery; Morris, two tackles and a sack; Steven Sellinger, one assist; Sanders, one tackle; Wright, one assist; and Alexander had one assist, one tackle, one sack and the only score of the day on a safety.
Lower Lake Youth Football travels to Lakeport for bouts against the Westshore teams on Saturday, Sept. 29. Pee Wee starts at 4 p.m.; JV at 5:30; and varsity at 7:30 p.m.
