Has Ayn Rand”s “Atlas Shrugged” convinced so many people that those who benefit most from America”s brand of capitalism, should not pay more in taxes? If our system of laws allows the upper class to live in total sybaritic luxury, shouldn”t they pay for the privilege? How are the lucky few convincing people to support tax relief for those who need it least? Why are good Christians standing around while less educated adults and unfortunate children are homeless and hungry? Are Americans so guileless that they do not understand that those who do not get preventive medical care end up in emergency rooms with serious but preventable illnesses?
Taxes are too high for the middle class. It is not the social programs who are at fault, but the tax cuts for the rich and the obscene war, where our youth are being sacrificed on the altar of power and graft. Yes, more money is being made by the defense industry that at any time in our history. Why are we allowing no-bid no-limit contracts for the first time in history? And armed soldiers with no allegiance to anyone but a private contractor, outside of the military code of ethics, the Geneva Convention, and not answerable to international law?
I challenge my fellow citizens to question a government who values a war over local infrastructure, a negative balance of payments, and an escalating national debt. Is that any way to run anything?
Throw the bums out. The problem is, who are the bums? The Democrats do not seem to be much better. We need a large broom and fresh blood to lead America back into the path of true democracy, or at least a true Republic.
