LAKE COUNTY ? The only identified suspect in Paul Joseph Womachka”s homicide was released from state prison Friday morning, according to the Lake County Sheriff”s Office.

Morgan Matthew Jack, 31, was released from San Quentin as part of a parole plan, Lt. Cecil Brown of the LCSO told the Record-Bee Friday. Jack was arrested for a parole violation at Konocti Vista Casino the night Womachka”s body was found inside his submerged Hey Taxi in the adjoining marina, according to an LCSO statement. A condition of Jack”s parole was that he not be under the influence of alcohol.

According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Jack was taken to San Quentin Aug. 8, following his June 29 arrest. San Quentin public information officer Eric Messick confirmed that Jack was paroled early Friday morning.

No charges related to Womachka”s homicide have been brought against Jack, but Lt. Cecil Brown of the LCSO said he remains the only identified suspect in Womachka”s homicide.

The case waits on the results of forensic testing on several pieces of evidence sent to the California Department of Justice. The results are expected to help identify “a person or persons” present at the time of Womachka”s death, according to a Sept. 13 LCSO press release. Brown said Friday that state testing typically takes several months. Brown said the department continues to meet with a lack of cooperation from members of the Big Valley Rancheria in the case. Tribal Chair Valentino Jack told lead detective Nicole Costanza Sept. 14 that he would supply her with requested property records and maps, but still has not produced them, Brown said.

Tribal Chairman Jack did not return numerous calls to his office and cell phone placed Friday afternoon.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact lead detective Nicole Costanza at 262-4236.
