LAKEPORT — In a battle of undefeated junior varsity football teams, the Middletown Mustangs knocked off the Clear Lake Cardinals 26-14 on Friday night in Lakeport.
Clear Lake quarterback Ryan Richardson passed for 122 yards and two touchdowns, a 20-yard strike to Seth Glazier and a 12-yarder to Kevin Burt.
Ryan Lunas and Lance McCloud led the Clear Lake defense with nine tackles apiece. Lunas also had two sacks and an interception, and McCloud blocked a punt.
“This was a hard-hitting game with two unbeaten teams and they just executed better than we did,” Clear Lake coach Gary Milhaupt said.
Middletown improved to 3-0-1.
