CLEARLAKE OAKS –The cause of a mobile home fire that ignited shortly before midnight Monday on the Elem Indian Colony in Clearlake Oaks is under investigation.

Battalion Chief Lou Dukes called the fire suspicious, and said it was the second at the same structure in two days. Dukes said responders were able to put out a fire that consumed part of the abandoned double wide mobile home on Sunday.

The structure was fully involved when crews arrived from the Northshore Fire Protection District”s station 75 in Clearlake Oaks. Cal Fire also sent crews, for a total of four engines and 10 firefighters. Dukes said the blaze took an hour to contain, and that crews were at the scene mopping up and investigating for about three hours.

Dukes said no one was injured and no dwellings were threatened. Crews were able to prevent the fire from extending to surrounding vegetation, Dukes said.
