LOWER LAKE — When the Lower Lake Trojans are serving the ball well, look out. And when the Lower Lake Trojans are serving the ball poorly, look out!

“We live or die by our serving,” Lower Lake coach Danessa Udy said on Tuesday night after the Trojans beat the Cloverdale Eagles 25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 15-25, 15-1 in a North Central League I interlock varsity volleyball match at Lower Lake.

“We”ve got some great servers, but we”re not consistent,” Udy said.

Chelsey Fiedler, one of the Trojans” more consistent servers, scored 13 of the 15 points in game five.

One of the night”s lighter moments came when a Lower Lake player served the ball a bit high and a bit long, smacking the top of the basketball backboard.

“I”ve never seen that before,” Udy said.

Fiedler finished the match with 20 points and three aces. Darlena White led the team with nine kills and five aces, Amber Shoffeitt added eight kills, and Renita Gilliam had four kills and a team-best four blocks.

Lower Lake is 9-8.
