LAKE COUNTY — An 18-year-old Lakeport woman suffered minor injuries Tuesday when her vehicle drifted on to the median and into the opposing lane, colliding with an oncoming vehicle, California Highway Patrol said.
Brittany Zastrow was southbound on Highway 101 south of Presswood in the Ukiah area driving her 1980 Honda Perlude 70 miles per hour with no other passengers when the car drifted into the center median for unknown reasons.
CHP said it is possible Zastrow fell asleep.
The vehicle out of control, she struck the side of a 1994 Chevy Astro driven by Robbie Ruddock, 41, of Ukiah, who had one passenger in the vehicle. Ruddock had been traveling northbound on 101 at 70 miles per hour.
Ruddock”s vehicle ended up on the right shoulder of the highway while Zastrow”s vehicle continued down an embankment where it came to rest. Both were wearing their seatbelts and were treated for minor injuries at Ukiah Valley Medical Center and no arrests were made, CHP said.
