Are there better things to do than change name?
I am writing this letter in regards to changing the name of Kelseyville. I am a native of Kelseyville, born and raised. And I am quite proud of it. I am not proud of the Kelsey reputation however. But for that matter there are many things about this entire country that I am not proud of.
Furthermore, I am not asking Mr. Duncan or any other Native American to “get over it” or to move on. What I am asking for is just a little bit of understanding. Just as Mr. Duncan probably takes pride in his name, which may have a negative history behind it, so do the people of Kelseyville. It”s a town and that is all. I am sure no one agrees with what Kelsey did.
I think that the time and energy spent on this subject could be redirected into something that has more of a positive effect, such as stopping an unjust war that is killing more innocent people everyday.
If Mr. Duncan wants to make a real change in the world, I would suggest addressing that energy towards the current criminals ? possibly the ones causing hundreds of thousands of deaths because of this war ? as well as disregarding many of our rights and liberties as citizens. I think Mr. Duncan is obviously quite effective in getting things accomplished, so why not focus on a bigger picture? And let this rest for the moment. Thank You.
Ronni Duncan
