UPDATED:

I have never been to a BoardStock event. Because they advertised that it was going to be a “family event” this year, I decided to give it a try. My son, who is six, loves BMX and Moto-sports, so I printed out the schedule and off we went. For three adults and a child, it cost $60 bucks.

Yikes, that”s steep; but it was for my son so what the heck. At 1:45 that afternoon, surprisingly it was empty and very easy to get around. We headed for the ramps set up for bikes at the end of the road, and waited and waited. Two guys were doing “stoppies” and “donuts” on motorcycles. No helmets, no gear. The BMX show was to start at 2:15 p.m., but I didn”t see a bike.

By 3 p.m., I heard the famous words “I”m bored.” I talked to my husband and our cousin, who we dragged to this really cool event, and asked what do you want to do? We had already been there for more than an hour and saw some boat stuff but that was it. We hung out for a few more minutes and decided to leave; I decided that I was going to say something on the way out. So I asked the sassy beach bunnies that were taking the money, if they could tell me when the BMX show was supposed to start.

I got this “I”m sorry ma”m, times and events are subject to change, and there is nothing we can do about it. It should start soon.” Yeah, and what? We stand around for another hour? No, we left. I will never support “BoardStock” again. If you call it a family event make it a family event. I went out there to see a show with my son ? and for no other reason. And, then, I was stuck telling him why we are going home and I am $60 bucks lighter. For what? An hour of standing around in the dirt by the stinky lake?

If BoardStock doesn”t come back because they didn”t make enough money or the weather wasn”t perfect, that is totally fine with me. I will never go again.
