When I found out about the proposal to change the name of the amazing town of Kelseyville, I was appalled. How does the idiocy of a single man have the ability to spill over and infect so many others into believing the absurdity that this is “good” political change. It seems that political correctness is a bandwagon that social extremists, such as Clayton Duncan, jump on in order to push public opinion and policy into their favor, and it is just unbelievable.

How, in any way does he, or any other person, believe that changing the name will make anything better; will it let us go back in time and stop it? No. Will it force our community to be more understanding? No. All this is trying to do is appease the certain few who think that they and their ideas are better than everyone else”s.

Take a look around Kelseyville and what do you see? Do you see a population that sits there and thinks, “Wow, isn”t it great our community is named after someone who killed natives over 150 years ago”, no. You see people that takes great pride in their town and schools. There are outstanding businesses, people, and education all in one place like there have been for many years past and will be for many years to come. People shouldn”t be afraid to stand up and support “A Friendly Country Town!”
