Mendocino County 4-H and PG&E are sponsoring a clean-up of a five mile section of the Eel River from Van Arsdale Reservoir up to the Lake County line. The official meeting spot is under the bridge on the Eel River, five miles north of Potter Valley on Eel River Road. Volunteers should show up anytime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
It is recommended that participants bring gloves, sunscreen, trash bags, water and beach needs.
The event annual event is called “The Best Clean-Up Ever.” It is in its sixteenth year.
PG&E owns this stretch of land as a part of the Potter Valley hydro-electric project. and in appreciation for the time and energy of the volunteers, the organization will provide a tri-tip lunch.
Mendocino County is donating the dumping fees. Mendocino 4-H contributed a $1,000 donation. The objective of the day is to rid the scenic area of trash and debris from the river, roads and beaches to create a healthy watershed and recreation area.
