CLEARLAKE — James BlueWolf, author of “Speaking for Fire,” appears at Wild About Books, 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at 14290 Olympic Drive in Clearlake. For more information, please call 994-WILD (9453).
“Speaking for Fire” is not a traditional story,” according to BlueWolf. “The story is meant to be read orally. Oral tradition has its place in every tribal culture and in encouraging these forms, we are supporting an old and honored art — one that encompasses discipline and imagination, two attributes sorely needed in today”s world.
“It is my hope that this story will speak in a voice that children of all ages can hear, and that the values spoken are worthy of the ?Tell.””
BlueWolf has been a songwriter, recording artist, performing artist and poet since the late 1960s. During his career as a musician, he recorded one previous album, “Strike The Drum,” and has sung professionally as a member and soloist of concert choirs, jazz ensembles, and the rock and country bands Wilderness and Alegria. In addition, he has been a solo performer of original Indin-earth-folk music. His poetry has appeared in the Sierra Journal, the Hungry Poet and Back to the Blanket newsletter. He was a regular contributor to the Alura Quarterly and has had poetry accepted for future publication in the Montserrat Review.
