COBB — Let your eyes smile and your ears rock to the beat of Groundation , a musical band that plays the very essence of jazz infused reggae. The band was formed by four graduates of the Sonoma State University jazz program in 1998.
Groundation means trying to bring all of the people to such a level so they can be able to talk, learn and educate each other.
The band has eight musicians in it: Harrison Stafford as the lead singer, Ryan Newman is the Bassist, Marcus Urani the keyboardist, Kelsy Howard as the trombone, David Diesal Chachere on the trumpet, Derry Armstrong in the chorus, Paul Spina the drummer, Mingo Lewis Junior as the percussionist and he also plays the conga. They have released six albums since 2001, their latest Upon the Bridge in 20006.
The “We Free Again” album won critical acclaim. They are an internationally renowned band with a strong fan base in Europe and the United States.
The Lake County Groundation concert will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Big Pines Campground, 12475 Highway 175 Loch Lomond with two long sets. The concert is a benefit for Lake County Catholic Charities” rural food project.
Doors open at 3 p.m. with DJ Lionize spinning and The Whisky Thieves opening band at 6 p.m.
