Area parks are being fixed, but why so late?

Over the past few weeks, while driving along the Northshore, I have noticed a buzz of activities around the county”s parks. In Clearlake Oaks, the new playground equipment has been installed and just the other day I saw several trees being planted in the park.

Then while I was passing through Lucerne, I noticed another new playground had been installed. In addition to this, the Blue Monster was just torn down to make an extension of another park. Hinman park in Nice looks great too with the new sod. I even saw a county worker pulling weeds in the pouring rain at the triangular park along the highway. I am impressed with how much work they have been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time.

However, even in my praise, I still have a few questions. Where were these guys all summer? Hinman park has been dirt for months. Why couldn”t these parks have been finished a few months earlier, when kids could have actually played there? Also, does the county have so much money that it can afford to pay someone to pull all those weeds in those ornamental flower beds in the triangular park along the highway in Nice? Wouldn”t a low-maintenance landscape have been better off there? And lastly, the beach along the parks are filthy. Now, while the water is low, could we have someone clean up all the old tires, beer cans and toasters?

While the parks departments may not be perfect, I am glad for their efforts to better our community. Thanks and keep up the good work.
