LAKEPORT — Coyote Film Festival”s “Best of the Fest” is coming to Lakeport, featuring a variety of short films and animation, Friday, Nov. 9, through Sunday, Nov. 11, at 750 S. Main Street.
“Coyote is Lake County”s own independent film festival,” said Karen Turcotte, executive director of EcoArts of Lake County. “We are excited about bringing the festival north to Lakeport and are fortunate to have 750 S. Main Street as the venue. It is a unique space that compliments this off-beat cinema experience.”
There will be four screenings of two completely different programs over the weekend, allowing film buffs to see up to 22 award-winning short films and animation. “We have so many great films that it was hard to choose, so we decided to focus mainly on comedy,” explained Turcotte. “We wanted to give everyone a chance to see as many films as possible.” The first program runs at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, then again at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. The second, completely different program of short films and animation runs at 8 p.m. Saturday and then again at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Both programs run approximately two hours including a 15-minute intermission.
“This is the best of our 2007 summer series,” said Turcotte. “If you didn”t get to Langtry Estates and Vineyards for our second annual season of film ?under the stars,” this is the only opportunity to see what you missed! All our films are multiple award winners and have traveled the world through film festivals.”
The $12 ticket, purchased at the door, will help support a new art project coordinated through EcoArts of Lake County. “We are going to launch an arts competition tentatively called, ?Wine Country Saddles,”” explained Turcotte. “Saddles become art. Chosen artists will be given a saddle tree, which is the under-structure of a saddle, and an honorarium to create a work of art using the saddle tree. The submission process will be announced soon. We want to honor Lake County”s equestrian heritage and highlight the county”s growing artistic community. We hope ?Wine Country Saddles” becomes an annual event.”
