MIDDLETOWN — Jeremy Steele was the man of steel for the Kelseyville Chiefs on Saturday night during a Pop Warner varsity football game at Middletown High School.
Steele rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns as the Chiefs upset the previously undefeated Middletown Colts 19-8.
Quarterback Steven Edwards threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Matteo Merodio for Kelseyville”s other score and Jake Youngs added a PAT conversion run. Geno Poloni rushed for 32 yards.
The Knights (5-2-1) were led on defense by Edwards with 10 total tackles, Steele with six, and James Green and Mike Snider with five apiece. Snider also recovered a fumble as did Max Huff. Edwards and Dakota Velez had interceptions.
Middletown is 7-1.
Kelseyville hits the road Saturday to play the Westshore Vikings at 7 p.m. at Clear Lake High School.
