MIDDLETOWN — The Lords and Ladies at Greystone Castle will be looking most splendid this year in new costumes, made possible by grants from two Middletown businesses. Tri Counties Bank and MAX Design Studio provided cash donations toward the purchase of new costumes, fabric and trims for the 14th Annual 2007 Renaissance Christmas Pageant and Feast. Judy Simon from HVL donated an extensive collection of fine fabrics and patterns, Jim and Kinene Barzin of Clearlake Oaks lent a number of custom-made costumes, Peggy Thompson of HVL donated the use of her grandfather”s tartan sash, and Bob and Ginny Silvestre from Lower Lake also purchased costumes.
After 14 years, many of the costumes used in past pageants were becoming a bit shabby. Now the costumes of this year”s Pageant will be more beautiful than ever, thanks to these donations.
Tickets are on sale for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings, Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15; and 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons, Dec. 9 and 16. Performances include a delicious three-course sit-down dinner around which a lively costume drama ? punctuated with Christmas music — unfolds.
The setting is the lavishly-decorated stone and stained-glass sanctuary of the Middletown community”s historic Pioneer Church, which was dedicated in 1893. The event is produced by the Middletown Community United Methodist Church, but actors, singers and volunteers from all over the community participate in the production, which has become a local tradition.
