LAKEPORT — Lakeport Community Players is auditioning for “The Solid Gold Cadillac,” 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Mendo/Lake Credit Union in the Willow Tree Plaza on 11th Street; and 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Lake County Arts Council, 325 N. Main St. in Lakeport. Contact Alice Stone, 263-1830, for more information.

The story begins with the annual stockholders” meeting and election of officers of a collossal manufacturing empire. New officers must be elected because the president of the corporation has taken a big government post in Washington D.C. The election is going smoothly and the meeting is about over when a timid old lady who owns 10 shares asks if she can ask a question. She has read every annual report and puts the board on the spot with a multitude of questions.

The new officers hush her up by giving her a phony job. She is to be a kind of liaison officer for the other minority stockholders. She takes her job seriously and the laughs begin as she writes letters and makes solid friendships with the small stockholders. The officers of the board become uneasy at this, but she finds a way to circumvent their evil doings before they can fire her.

Right wins in the end for this light hearty comedy set in the 1950s business environment. With a cast of 18, 12 men, six women; this light-hearted comedy is sure to be entertaining.

This will be LCP”s first production at the Soper-Reese Theater “since the lights went out.” Play dates are scheduled for March 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16.
