An exciting and competitive season culminated with Pine Dell taking the 2007 Southshore Adult Coed Softball League champion-ship on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Redbud Ballpark in Clearlake. Pine Dell came back a game down in the three-game championship series against No. 3 seed All Star Tile to win the title.
The 2007 season was a battle to the end with three teams running neck-and-neck to gain play-off positions. Pine Dell clinched its play-off seat at the head of the league with its 9-2 season record while second, third and fourth place seeds were decided with the outcome of the very last regular game of the season.
Play-off action pitted Pine Dell against No. 4 seed Holistic Solution and No. 2 seed Smalley Construction against All Star Tile. Pine Dell and All Star Tile knocked out their competitors, sending the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds to final play-off series.
The fight for the championship began with an intense first game with the lead going back and forth between the teams. With both teams heading into the extra inning at the top of their line-ups, All Star Tile put five unanswered runs on the board to give the team the first win in the best two-of-three games series.
Pine Dell hit the field running in the second bout putting five unanswered runs in the book in the top of the first inning. The final score in the bout was 19-3.
The deciding game went four and a half innings with Pine Dell taking the win on the 10-run mercy rule in the middle of the fifth. The final score giving Pine Dell the championship was 19-4.
