As I read the letters daily in the Record-Bee about changing the name of Kelseyville, something came to mind. I believe that most of the residents of the town and surrounding area of Kelseyville pay property taxes. I was just looking thru my tax roll for the upcoming year, and see where I pay a fire tax and a bond tax for the school district.

It”s my opinion if this name change is to take place that it should go before the taxpayers and be put to a vote ? much like the changing of the mascot should have been done since we have been paying on a multi-use bond measure since 2002. It is also my opinion these same taxpayers would not like the idea of paying out more money to have to change the name on all the fire equipment at the fire department and the name of the high school. All the business name”s from Kelseyville Appliance to Kelseyville United Methodist church may have to change as well.

It”s my feeling that if the name change is going to go any further, that it needs to be put to a vote and let the taxpayers and residents decide.
