CLEARLAKE OAKS ? Three men were injured in a crash Wednesday morning on Highway 20 west of Harvey Boulevard.
Lakeport resident Andrew Colsen, 38, was driving a 1993 Jeep Wrangler east at approximately 7:30 a.m. He failed to negotiate a right curve in the road, according to California Highway Patrol officer Adam Garcia. The Jeep hit a tree after leaving the north edge of the road.
Colsen was wearing a lap belt, according to Garcia, but not a shoulder harness. The impact caused him to hit the steering wheel with his chest. Speed is estimated at 45 mph. He was taken to Sutter Lakeside Hospital by a North Shore Fire Protection District ambulance.
Passengers Bruce Blair, 48, and Bill Galloway, 30, both Nice residents, were treated at Sutter Lakeside Hospital for moderate to major injuries. Both men were wearing seat belts, Garcia said.
Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors. Garcia said early morning fog was not a factor, either.
“I don”t think it was an issue. There was something else.” The officer is trying to figure out whether there is a medical condition or he fell asleep, Garcia said.
