LAKEPORT — A male victim of an assault was found dead Tuesday morning by sheriff”s deputies who responded to a 9-1-1 call from a resident at Western Hills Trailer Park at 3555 Lakeshore Boulevard. Two people were taken into custody in connection with the death.

At approximately 10:14 a.m., the Lake County Sheriff”s Department received a 9-1-1 call from an anonymous person for medical aid. At that time, she reported that a man was bleeding from his hands. She directed medical personnel to the trailer park.

Thinking there had been an altercation at the address, fire personnel were directed to stage near the area while deputies from the LCSD responded to secure the scene and apprehend any armed or dangerous individuals prior to their arrival, according to a 3 p.m. press release from the LCSD.

Deputies arrived at the scene within minutes of the original report, the release said. Upon the arrival of LCSD, was a discovery of the victim, dead at the scene. The victim”s identity is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. The LCSD reported the victim is a white male adult, approximately 65-years-old. Cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but it was clear he was the victim of an assault.

As deputies checked the area for other victims and/or suspects, they were directed by numerous residents of the park to contact Garcia-Oliver, the trailer-park resident of space 31B. Upon contacting Garcia-Oliver, deputies Tom Andrews and Cynthia Radoumis detained and secured him, as he also had injuries to his hands consistent with having been in a physical altercation, the press release said.

Sheriff”s deputies at the scene Tuesday afternoon said they could offer no comment. Lake County Sheriff Rodney Mitchell was contacted at 3:30 p.m. and referred the Record-Bee to write an email with any inquiries. Mitchell responded to the email stating “I”m sorry, but we are not releasing any other information at this time.”

At the scene at 2:30 p.m., two deputies were standing-by the secured area, which was taped off. One patrol vehicle was parked near the Sheriff”s crime operations vehicle. A group of children were gathered on the outside of the yellow-taped area in the trailer park. The trailer park is directly adjacent to Lakeshore Blvd., and the taped area extended along the roadside and entrance to the park, and completely circled at least two trailer homes. A deputy or an adult seemed to be supervising the children, although Mitchell would not comment on whether this was the case. Two people in a residence within the taped area were seen standing in their doorway observing.

At the time of the 3 p.m. Tuesday press release, investigators from the LCSD were on scene conducting the investigation and collecting evidence. Additional information will be released this morning when more information is available and family of the victim have been identified and informed, according to the press release.
