LAKEPORT ? A Public Workshop to discuss ideas and suggestions for a ?Wish List” for Downtown Lakeport has been postponed. Originally scheduled for Tuesday November 27th, 6pm at Lakeport City Hall , the meeting has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, December 5th, 6pm at Lakeport City Hall , in the City Council Chambers.

In partnership with the Lakeport Main Street Association and the Lakeport Regional Chamber of Commerce, the City of Lakeport would like to invite your participation in brainstorming a “Transformation Project” for Main Street .

This important session is intended to utilize the framework of the existing Downtown Master Plan and your creativity in creating a series of possible visual streetscape designs that could be implemented in a Main Street renovation project scheduled for the Spring of 2008.

All business owners and owners of commercial property are encouraged to attend on December 5th. Actually, it is hoped that anyone who sees a sustainable, viable Destination retail hub in Downtown Lakeport as a priority, will come to the workshop. As we all know, retail sales tax is necessary for any community to remain vibrant and grow to meet the needs of residents.

The City is prepared to move ahead with Main Street improvements, but they are looking at doing more with Downtown and want to move ahead with a concerted effort to achieve street and building fa?ade improvements concurrently. This is a complex project and it”s best to have the ?wish lists” in place, know what the community would like to see happen and address all concerns possible. In addition, the City has plans to actively recruit retailers to Lakeport to increase sales tax revenue in all areas. Please make plans to be a part of the solution, attend the workshop on December 5th at 6pm. For further information, please contact City Manager Jerry Gillham at 263-5615, ext 32 or Lakeport Regional Chamber CEO, Melissa Fulton at 263-5092.
