LAKE COUNTY — The California Highway Patrol reported that no one was injured in a two-car collision on Highway 53 near its intersection with Highway 20 Wednesday afternoon.
While talking to a driver pulled over for speeding after the accident, CHP officer Dallas Richey said the call that came in at 3:44 p.m. made the accident sound “pretty messy, but it wasn”t.”
Both drivers were headed north on Highway 53. Richey said when the driver in front, driving a Honda Civic, pulled to the right shoulder and then performed a U-turn. The driver behind him, driving a compact Mazda, reportedly did not see him and hit the car”s right front side.
The Honda was pulled onto a side street; airbags were deployed.
