ESPARTO — Ryan Johnson led a balanced Middletown scoring attack with 14 points and the Mustangs defeated Esparto 68-21 in a non-league junior varsity boys” basketball game on Wednesday night in Esparto.
It was the season opener for the Mustangs (1-0), who return to action today in the Clear Lake Tournament at Lakeport.
“We played pretty well, every kid scored,” Middletown coach James Seymour said. “It looked pretty positive. Hopefully it will turn out to be a pretty solid year.”
Bo Sheffer added 13 points and Jeremy Hoefer had 10.
