In response to Dr. Steen”s diatribe (Record-Bee, Nov. 28) against those of us with a “lack of humanity,” who have seen first hand the death and devastation wrought by sex offenders against innocent victims, and who fully support public access to sex offender registries so we can know that the housekeeper, financial planner or birthday party clown we are about to hire is a child molester, I suggest she publish her home address so that recently released offenders know where to find a sex-offender-friendly neighborhood. She can lavish them with the compassion she thinks they deserve, and it will keep them out of our neighborhoods.
I”m not suggesting that anybody take justice into their own hands and assault or murder people who are registered sex offenders, but Dr. Sheen”s notion that laws to protect the innocent should be ditched because they are tough on the offender is appalling.
